Experience:

Virgilio has been practicing mining law for over 40 years. With extensive experience in both preventive counseling and litigation, Virgilio had the opportunity to advise practically all major mining houses operating in the country.

His professional activities include legal advice for the implementation of mining projects on gross root properties; mine construction, development, and expansion; mine closure; acquisition and sale of mining projects; joint ventures for the development of mining projects; environmental permitting of mining projects; conflicts between mining and protected areas; overlapping of mining and other land uses; and participation in multidisciplinary groups for the development of feasibility studies of mining projects.

A founding partner of Lobo & Ibeas Advogados (1974-2018) and of Borba, Simões Barbosa, Bessone, Cristofaro – BSBC (May 2018), both Top Tier firms in the main international rankings, Virgilio is generally regarded by his peers and clients as a reference in the sector and is frequently invited as a speaker in congresses and seminars.
